Praised for his expressive artistry and commanding stage presence, Canadian pianist Joshua Wong has performed extensively across North America and Europe. His international appearances include celebrated venues and festivals in Salzburg, Coimbra, Hilton Head, and Minneapolis. At home, he has performed in every major Canadian city, captivating audiences with performances that blend technical brilliance and emotional depth.

Joshua’s musical journey began under Marilyn Engle at the University of Calgary, followed by training in the Advanced Performance Program at Mount Royal Conservatory. He recently completed his Bachelor of Music in Piano Performance at McGill University on a full scholarship, studying with Dr. Ilya Poletaev.  He has appeared with orchestras, and has received awards and scholarhips at multiple festivals and competitions. His students have earned top prizes and scholarships at local competitions, including the Calgary Performing Arts Festival.

Joshua’s teaching approach is holistic and tailored to each individual student. He emphasizes body coordination, musical expression, and harmonic understanding, helping students build a strong technical foundation and a deeper connection to the music they play. He aims to keep lessons engaging by using supplementary materials, playing some pieces by ear, and having students choose pieces of various styles that appeal to their tastes. For younger students, he presents concepts in different ways to appeal to the student's learning style. 

By balancing high standards with thoughtful guidance, Joshua creates a supportive environment where students are challenged, encouraged, and inspired. Above all, he strives to make learning meaningful and joyful, fostering lifelong connections to music.
