Melodie is a native of Calgary. Her mother was an accomplished pianist and was Melodie’s first piano teacher. Melodie graduated with a Bachelor of Music degree from the University of Calgary and has taught music to all ages and levels for over 30 years. Her musical experience includes piano performance, accompanying and singing. She has participated in many choirs including Jazz groups, a big band, solo and the Calgary Philharmonic Chorus.
Melodie has served on the Alberta Registered Music Teachers Association (ARMTA) Calgary Branch for over 17 years including two years as president. She is also a member of the Alberta Piano Teachers Association (APTA) and presently serves on the Contemporary Showcase committee. She is passionate about music education, loves to learn new ways to help her students and believes that music is fundamental to humanity.
Melodie has an active and musical family. Her two daughters and her husband are all musicians and active educators. Her time outside of music teaching, volunteering and upgrading her skills is taken up by her young grandson, skiing, hiking/camping and gardening.
