Questions?
Check below for some commonly asked questions, or feel free to reach out if there is anything we can help with!
How Do We Get Started?
As soon as you contact us, we will ask about your child's previous experience with music, where you would like to have lessons, and your preferred days and times for lessons. In-home lessons are possible as long as you have a digital, upright, or grand piano. We will also recommend books/materials and assist you in locating them.
What Are Your Rates?
We keep our rates competitive and affordable for families and individuals. Since exact rates depend on the length of lesson, number of students, in-home versus in-studio, and the day of the week, we'd be happy to give you a quote that reflects your situation. A 30-minute lesson starts at $28/lesson for studio or online, and starts at $35/lesson for in-home lessons.
Where Are You Located?
In-Home. Our teachers will travel throughout Calgary to deliver in-home piano lessons.
Studio. If you would prefer lessons in a teacher's studio, we can arrange for lessons at a nearby teacher's home studio. Lessons can also be done online.

Do you offer recitals?
We host two yearly recitals (Winter and Spring) for all students at no extra charge. We believe performance opportunities foster community and inspire students of all ages. This will continue to be free for families ... always.
What About Exams?
If you would like your child to participate in the Contemporary Showcase (Fall), Alberta Piano Teacher's Association Festival (APTA in the Spring), Calgary Performing Arts Festival (CPAF in the Spring) or to complete an RCM exam (anytime), we can help! We have RCM certified teachers who know the competition and exam process and can help you or your child prepare and have a great experience!
How Does Payment Work?
Payment is usually processed via direct debit and is coordinated directly through Calgary Piano Expression's administrative staff. The standard rate for lessons includes travel time to all quadrants in Calgary and two free recitals a year for all students. If you live outside the city limits, please contact us to discuss possibilities.
What Is the Schedule for LEssons?
Lessons mostly follow the Calgary Board of Education Calendar from September to June. Lessons in July and August are flexible to accommodate family and teacher vacations. Our 2024-2025 piano lesson calendar is here!
