Sorena Cook, RCM 10

Sorena has been taking piano lessons since she was four years old, and she has completed her Level 10 practical examination and Level 9 theory examinations with the Royal Conservatory of Music. She is currently planning to take her practical examination for her ARCT in Piano Performance. Sorena has participated in music festivals, including the Calgary Performing Arts Festival and the Highwood Lions Music Festival among many others, earning provincial recommendations, scholarships and esteemed performance opportunities.
 
Sorena welcomes young students with a range of goals, whether they wish to pursue the RCM curriculum or enjoy playing pop songs. For whatever reason a student is taking piano lessons, her main goal in teaching is to foster a love of music by making learning piano fun, establishing a positive student-teacher relationship and helping to develop good practice habits. By teaching piano, Sorena hopes to share her musical experience and passion with others.
 
Outside of teaching and practicing piano, Sorena enjoys reading, photography and school. She is also working on a combined degree in biology/psychology at the University of Calgary.
